The Venture Unit was formed in September 1999 and closed on the 1st September 2002 with the advent of Explorer Scouting.

The 1st Celtic Explorer Scout Unit took over the Creigiau Venture Unit, but remains partnered with the group. By the time the Explorers took over, the Venture Unit had grown to 25. They had been very successful with the final expedition being a visit in August 2002 to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. The unit were very pleased that they could form a sound basis for the new Explorer Unit.
