Carnival Day has become a long established tradition as one of the highlights of village life in Creigiau.  It is organised by a small committee of representatives from C.R.A.M.C. (Creigiau Recreation Area Management Committee), Creigiau 23 and various other villagers.  It is an occasion which brings the community together for a day of activities and fun and at the same time raises money for local organisations and the upkeep of local sporting facilities.

Carnival Week 2008

Please make a note in your diaries of this year’s Carnival Day – it is the main event in the year which unites our community and should not be missed!  In order to make the day a success, the Carnival Committee hopes you can help or join in with the following:

Ø  The Carnival Procession.  The theme this year is “Countries of the World” which should inspire some very colourful floats.   We do hope that every organisation in the village will enter a float – whether on a lorry or on foot – to make the procession extra special.  It should be a spectacular occasion!

To register your float, please return the slip below to Linda Reed at school by 31^st May 2008.

Ø  Children can dress up in imaginative costumes to take part in the Fancy Dress Competition.  There will be individual and group prizes for the best fancy dress.

Ø  Start training now in preparation for the Fun Run to be held at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 21^st June 2008 at the Creigiau Recreation Ground!  There are separate categories for the nursery, infants, juniors, teenagers and adults - from one to three laps around the field.  Come and cheer on those brave enough to take part!  (We hope to get even more Dads entering this year!!)

Ø  Carnival Disco: Monday 23^rd June 2008 from 6.30 – 8.00 p.m. in Creigiau Church Hall where the Carnival King & Queen and Attendants will be chosen from names pulled out of a hat. 

Ø  Carnival Quiz:  Creigiau Inn on Tuesday 24^th June 2008 at 8.00 p.m.

Ø  Cricket Club Cheese & Wine Evening: Friday 27^th June 2008 at 7.30 p.m. in Creigiau Church Hall

ØCarnival Day: A procession of floats assembles at 1.00 p.m. at the Parc-y-Fro Green and proceeds around the village to the recreation field by 2.00 p.m. when the carnival officially commences.  Here there is something for all ages – there will be a fancy dress competition, many games & side shows, a variety of stalls selling such things as plants, books, cards, bottles, skin products, cakes, etc.  Refreshments including a beer tent, barbecue, teas, coffees, cakes, ice creams & candy floss.

Entry to the carnival is by carnival programme.  These are on sale during the weeks leading up to the carnival and they can also be bought on the gate.  We are very grateful to local companies for supporting the carnival by advertising in the programme.

Look out for volunteers who will be selling entry programmes from door-to-door during early June onwards to remind you what treats are in store for you on Carnival Day.
