Woody our Mascot

Our Beaver Mascot, "Woody".

During the Spring Term we ran the programme based on 2 themes. The first half term was "Science Experiments" and for the second half "Animals".

The Beavers carried out a wide variety of activities that looked at

  1. White substances
  2. Things that pop
  3. Liquids
  4. the best of all, Ice hands.

The Beavers observed, discussed and deliberated.  Most of the Colony gained their Science badges which are now proudly displayed on their uniforms.

After the half-term holiday we concentrated on animals.  Those Beavers who have pets at home are continuing to record how they care for them so that they can gain their Animal Friend badge.

We managed to build houses with straw, sticks, and bricks and had great fun being the "wolf".  "What's the time Mr. Wolf?" was a great way of getting rid of a lot of energy!

A visitor arrived for one colony evening bringing her "Scary Pets," namely giant snails, scorpion, snake, millipede, tarantula and a pair of beautiful rats to name a few!! (Anyone need her number? E-mail me through the site).

We thought of others before ourselves on Red Nose Day. We held an "inside-out" night, when we wore our close inside-out and some even had their underwear exposed for all to see...yes Badger! that means you as well ! We raised the cracking sum of £174.80.

We finished the term with an Easter egg hunt around the Scout Hut. Great Fun!!

The oldest Beavers (aged seven and a half upwards) have just taken part in the Beaver/Cub Fun Day at Woodhouse Park, Avon Scout Site. Fantastic weather, excellent activities...a great way to get together.
